The goal of our Guidance Program at Nevils is to facilitate student success and support the academic, emotional, and social needs of all students. Students are provided with opportunities to learn more about themselves and others through individual counseling, small group counseling, and classroom guidance.
During classroom guidance, students explore topics such as study skills, peer relationships, manners, self-concept, citizenship, and career awareness. Small group guidance is for kids who are experiencing similar problems such as: family changes, death and dying, friendship issues, self-esteem issues, and divorce. In addition, students may meet with the counselor individually to discuss personal issues that may be affecting them.
Parents and teachers are also encouraged to consult with the counselor about personal, academic, or social concerns of their students.
